For those that think Ontario can’t make good red wines, try this one

Description: Medium+ ruby in colour with a medium+ intense nose. This wine features cedar, raspberry, cherry, tamarind, grilled red pepper, white pepper and red roses on the nose. Medium body with mild tannin, good acidity and a long length.

Negatives: None

Interesting Note: Such a beautiful nose.

Drink now or in the next 5-7 of years on its own or pair it with Braised Lamb Chops with Red Wine and Figs.

Smokey with lots of spice with a mouthful of flavour

Description: Dark ruby to purple in colour with a medium+ intense nose. This wine features toasted oak, dried cherry, raisins, blackberry, cloves, cinnamon, white & black pepper and cherry tobacco on the nose. Medium+ body with mild tannin, good acidity and a long length.

Negatives: None

Interesting Note: I like the label

Drink now or in the next 2-4 of years on its own or pair it with Pasta Arrabbiata.

An expressive Cab, but on the expensive side

Description: Medium to dark ruby in colour with a medium+ intense nose. This wine oak, blackcurrants, blackberry, plum, raspberry, turmeric, espresso, cassis, and tomato leaves. Full body with medium to medium+ tannin, good acidity and a long length.

Negatives: Touch hot from the 14.5% alcohol.

Interesting Note: A lot of information about this wine on the back label, which is nice to see.

Drink now or in the next 5-7 of years on its own or pair it with Grilled Sage Rubbed Lamb Chops.

Interesting Note: Columbia Winery’s new label is a 1,000 times better than the old one, which was to simplistic & non imaginative.

Interesting Note: Done in the Ripasso method of drying of the grapes giving the wine more richness & depth.

Classic Alexander Valley Cab, but alcohol tries to overwhelm the fruit flavours

Description: Deep ruby in colour with an intense nose. This wine features cedar, dark cherry, plum, raspberry, black currants, boysenberry, cinnamon, cloves, smoked, turmeric, pencil shavings, leather and purple lilac on the nose. Full body with medium to medium+ tannins, good acidity and long length.

Negatives: Too much heat from the 14.5% alcohol

Interesting Note: Previous vintage that I reviewed was the 2012, which was far superior to the 2014.

Drink now or in the next 5-7 years on its own or pair it with London Broil drizzled with Onion Marmalade .

Medium to medium+ body with medium+ tannin, good acidity and a long length.

Interesting Note: Love the nose on this wine. Reminds of wines from Graves.

What is Twilight Wines?
